We were recently approached by InterRegs, a software company located in Fareham, Hampshire. InterRegs were looking for an energy efficient low carbon solution to cool their server room.
After conducting a detailed site survey & heat load calculation, it was determined that two 10Kw Mitsubishi Electric Wall Mounted units would be the best solution. The energy efficient heat pump air con systems were installed and configured to provide cooling only, as server rooms do not require heating. The two systems were set up in a ‘run standby’ configuration. Run standby means one system is cooling all the time and the other is in standby ready to increase the cooling power (Kw) if needed. The sensible heat emitted from the equipment may increase during busy processing times or the external ambient temperatures (Sensible & Latent heat)) can increase during the hot summer months. This is an energy efficient way of cooling server rooms and if a system fails the standby system will provide ample cooling until the other is fixed. Another advantage is that it significantly prolongs the life span of the equipment as they are not operating all the time.
The installation was completed within a week, to the highest of standards, with minimal disruption to InterRegs’ staff. The indoor wall mounted air conditioning units were connected to their corresponding invertor driven outdoor units, installed at high level at the rear of the building and housed within vandal proof cages. The whole system was designed, precured, installed, commissioned, and handed over within two weeks. Additionally, InterRegs signed an Air Control planned preventative maintenance agreement, which activates our 5 Year platinum warranty. This ensures that the units will be serviced and maintained to the highest standards, ensuring their continued operation for years to come.
