Mitsubishi Electric City Multi VRV & Lossnay Ventilation Installation

Mitsubishi Electric City Multi VRV & Lossnay Ventilation Installation — Trant Engineering, Rushington House

The Challenge

Air Control were appointed by Trant Engineering, one of our long-standing and valued clients, to deliver the mechanical services installation for their new training department at Rushington House. As a preferred contractor, we have worked closely with Trant Engineering for many years across a wide range of projects.

The space being converted into the new training facility was previously used as a plant store and required a complete transformation into a comfortable, compliant, and well-ventilated learning environment. The challenge was to provide reliable heating, cooling, and fresh air to support classroom use, while ensuring the system was efficient, quiet, and suitable for extended periods of occupancy.

The Requirements

The new training department consisted of two classrooms and a dedicated office. Each space required independent temperature control, with the ability to provide both heating and cooling throughout the year.

In addition to thermal comfort, indoor air quality was a key requirement. As classrooms are high-occupancy spaces, adequate fresh air supply and effective extraction were essential to maintain a healthy learning environment and comply with current ventilation standards. The solution needed to be carefully designed to ensure correct air change rates without creating draughts or excessive noise.

The Solution

Air Control designed and installed a Mitsubishi Electric City Multi VRV system, providing efficient heating and cooling across the new training department. Two 4-way ceiling cassette fan coil units were installed into the classrooms, selected for their ability to deliver even air distribution and quiet operation, ideal for teaching environments. A wall-mounted fan coil unit was installed in the office, providing independent temperature control for staff.

To complement the air-conditioning system, Air Control also designed and installed a Mitsubishi Electric Lossnay mechanical ventilation with heat recovery system. The Lossnay unit supplies fresh, filtered air into the classrooms while extracting stale air, recovering heat from the exhaust air to improve overall energy efficiency.

Air Control’s design expertise ensured that the ventilation system delivered the correct volumetric airflow rates for classroom occupancy, maintaining excellent indoor air quality without compromising comfort. Careful consideration was given to diffuser placement, airflow patterns, and noise levels, ensuring a balanced, draught-free environment that supports concentration and wellbeing.

The Result

The completed installation has successfully transformed a former plant store into a modern, comfortable training facility. The Mitsubishi Electric City Multi VRV system provides reliable, energy-efficient heating and cooling, while the Lossnay ventilation system ensures a continuous supply of fresh air, creating a healthy and productive learning environment.

This project is another example of Air Control’s ability to deliver fully integrated climate-control solutions, combining air conditioning and ventilation design expertise. Our long-standing relationship with Trant Engineering and collaborative approach allowed the project to be delivered efficiently and to a high standard, reinforcing Air Control’s position as a trusted and preferred contractor.

“Tom demonstrated strong technical expertise and ensured the installation met all project requirements. Communication was clear and the work was delivered efficiently within a commercial setting.”
