Mr and Mrs Turner were already valued, long-standing customers of Air Control, having previously entrusted us with the installation of air-conditioning systems in both their home and business premises. When they began building their new high-end family home in Burridge, Southampton, they once again turned to Air Control to deliver a premium climate-control solution.
The brief was clear: the air-conditioning system needed to provide exceptional comfort while remaining completely discreet and aesthetically pleasing. The challenge was heightened by the design of the property, with several bedrooms and a cinema room located on the top floor, built within the third storey and surrounded by loft space. This left very limited void space to accommodate the indoor fan coil units and associated services.
Mr and Mrs Turner required a high-end, energy-efficient air-conditioning system capable of delivering heating and cooling to multiple bedrooms and a cinema room, without compromising the clean architectural design of their new home.
A key requirement was that no equipment, pipework, or services were to be visible. Air distribution needed to be subtle, quiet, and evenly balanced, with supply air delivered in a way that complemented the minimalist interior design. The system also had to be carefully designed to fit within small loft voids, requiring a bespoke ductwork solution.
Air Control designed and installed a multi-unit Mitsubishi Electric air-conditioning system, serving the top-floor bedrooms and cinema room. Due to the restricted space, the indoor concealed ducted fan coil units were carefully housed within small loft voids above the rooms.
To deliver conditioned air into the living spaces, our engineers designed and installed intricate bespoke ductwork. Supply air enters each room via plastered linear slot diffusers, chosen specifically for their ultra-minimalist appearance. These frameless diffusers are plastered seamlessly into the walls, leaving no visible borders and maintaining the clean, high-end aesthetic of the interiors.
All interconnected services, including pipework and cabling, were fully concealed, with nothing on show. The result is a discreet yet highly effective climate-control system that delivers comfort without impacting the visual design of the home.
This project highlights Air Control’s expertise in designing and installing bespoke residential air-conditioning systems, even where space is limited and aesthetic standards are exceptionally high. The completed installation provides Mr and Mrs Turner with year-round comfort while preserving the elegant, minimalist finish of their luxury home.
“We chose a multi-unit VRF system for our home and the results are outstanding. The team demonstrated real expertise from design through to commissioning. The system runs quietly and efficiently, and the overall standard of installation is exceptional.”
